concentrates on appeals in the court of Appeals for the Federal circuit.

Edward d. Manzo maintains an active intellectual property litigation practice at Husch Blackwell llp, where he is a partner. He also oversees patent and
trademark procurement, renders opinions, and counsels clients. He was president
of the intellectual property law Association of chicago (iplAc) from 2010-11
and remains on its board.
edward originated and is editor-in-chief of Patent Claim Construction in the
Federal Circuit (thomson reuters, 2006-date) and Patent Claim Interpretation—
Global Edition (thomson reuters, 2008-date). He taught the doctrinal course on
patent law as an Adjunct professor of law at depaul University college of law.
He teaches patent claim interpretation (including his Claim Construction Game®)
for patent resources group and bar associations.
edward was a chief contributor to the development of the pattern jury
instructions adopted by the Seventh circuit in 2008 for use in patent jury trials.
Additionally, he helped author the local patent rules adopted in 2009 by the
U.S. district court (n.d. ill.). For 2010 and 2011, he has been ranked among
the “top 100” illinois Super lawyers, and he has been named an “illinois Super
lawyer” for ip litigation for several years.
He is a member of the bars of n Y, il, and the USpto, and he is a member
of the richard linn American inn of court. He received degrees in physics
from the polytechnic institute of Brooklyn (now the polytechnic institute of n YU,
Unified Honors program, 1972) and law (SUn Y-Buffalo, now University at Buffalo,
cum laude, 1975). He has practiced ip law for 35 years.
